Clinical Updates in Reproductive Health

Ipas

Topics:

Non-judgmental services, Counselling, Product Quality, Surgical Abortion, Medical Abortion (MA), Clinical guidance, WHO guidelines, Training

The Clinical Updates in Reproductive Health from Ipas are designed to provide Ipas staff, trainers, partners and other health-care providers with access to up-to-date, evidence-based recommendations on sexual and reproductive health.

The Clinical Updates undergo rigorous grading and yearly reviews and updates to ensure that the content is up-to-date and accurate. As a result, the guidelines were most recently updated in 2020, including updates to guidance on pain management, medical abortion regimen and post-abortion care.

In general, the recommendations found in the Clinical Updates are either the same as those in the World Health Organization's 2012 Safe Abortion: Technical and Policy Guidance for Health Systems, or those made by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO).

Cases in which the Clinical Updates may differ generally come in areas or topics where more current evidence is available, or in rare cases, where they may have been modified due to the settings in which we (Ipas) work.

The latest version of the Clinical Updates can be found on the Ipas website and are accessible by computer, tablet and mobile. The Ipas website also contains a pdf version of the Clinical Updates to download, as well as additional Resources for Health Professionals at the bottom of each webpage.
